It is amazing how many today,
yes, even religious
people who may call themselves Christian (Titus
1:16), have the same attitude as the Levite and the ancient priest.
I've heard it many times: The excuses to not help – "Oh, he/she could go
out and find a job:.Psalms
73:4-8. They could get an education like the rest of us. God must want
them to go through this; He can bring them out of it. The government's
social programs I pay in taxes are supposed to help. They can go there.
She is only hooking her body to pay for a drug habit.".1Corinthians
13:2; Matthew
18:35 "So likewise my heavenly Father will do also unto you, if you
from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses."
'Lord, save me from your
followers.'
Look, know this:.1John
4:8,9 "He that loves not knows not God, for God is
love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God
sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we.(all
those now called).might
live
through
Him."
Christ (Christ means 'anointed
of God') is a body of beings
within whom resides God's Holy Spirit:.Colossians
1:18;
Ephesians 1:22,23; 5:30.
Verse
23 of Ephesians 5 says that Christ is the savior (original Greek is
'deliverer, preserver') of the body. We're the body. We've been saved.
Whose lives are we now helping to deliver from heartache?
Many may be zealous to 'evangelize'
and bring others to Christ but lack the cooperative fire the early New
Testament Christians had for each other, thus letting some die on the vine':.Acts
2:44-47.
Such are they that live
by a 'crooked' spirituality:.Acts
2:40 "And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying,
Save yourselves from this untoward.(original
is 'lean' {toward others} and 'unfair').generation."
1Thessalonians
4:1,6,9,10 Paul says in verse 6 that we step over the limits by having
more in possession when our brothers and sisters may be disadvantaged.
And worse yet, how many have even bothered to find out how their very own
spiritual brothers and sisters in Christ are doing?.1Corinthians
12:25-27;
1John 3:16. And they
think
they are spiritual, a 'Christian'? Gimmee a break!
Whose lives have we helped
save from financial adversity? Paul the great apostle had the same concerns
– again, Philippians 4:15,16;
Hebrews
10:34.
Are we attempting to preserve
anyone?.James
1:27. Have we saved anyone from any of their problems yet, or just
dumped them into God's lap?
Down your street are people
who perhaps cannot afford to go out to a dinner and movie with the kids
once a month; people who may like to get out without the kids occasionally.
Have you approached them, or at least been observant enough to find out
their needs?.Matthew
25:35-40. Maybe they need equipment so their kids can join a hockey
team, etc. If you know they need help, maybe slip a few hundred bucks into
an envelope and drop it in their mailbox; or whatever you can comfortably
afford to give. Just put on the envelope something like 'from God for you'.
Some want to send money in
appreciation for how this web site has helped them. That's nice! And we
do need the funds as we have many plans as well as ongoing expenses for
both of the sites.(*).
But, look to your relatives and to those in your own neighborhood first.
Buy the kids a few toys and afford the time to play with them, take
them out, or whatever. Some Christians are more dedicated to their church
(tithes, offerings, excessive time, etc.), than to their families. This
should not be.
We have been called to do
works of love. Christ had great empathy
for what His mind had compassion about:.1Peter
2:20,21; 1Peter 4:16; 3:16;
Revelation
12:13.(the
'woman' mentioned here is the called body of believers that is referred
to as the church);
Luke
9:23-25. Notice it is a daily 'walk'.
Is Christ, what He did for
us and what is offered to us, worth it?
Some
'spiritual' people think that 'if we can only get others to accept Jesus,
they will be ok'. They will be ok.if.you
bust your little #@% to help!
John here says, that God
sent Him into the world so that others could live (original Greek for 'live'
is 'to enjoy life, be blessed'). Now we as the body of Christ.will
be doing likewise:.1Timothy
5:25;
Luke
14:33. Having the same Spirit toward helping others and alleviating
suffering that Christ did evidences that you are one with Him:.Romans
8:9.
1John
4:10 "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and
sent his Son to be the propitiation
for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another."
Jesus always did that which
was pleasing to the Father:.John
8:29. So likewise us! However, few go out of pocket and out of their
way to be a servant to others. Paul too did what was pleasing in God's
eyes:.1Corinthians
10:33.(the
word in the original Greek for saved is 'sozo'
and means 'to save', 'saved', 'to do well', 'to keep safe and sound', 'to
rescue from danger and adversity', 'to make whole', 'to restore to health',
'to preserve'). And God has
done this for us!
Paul
is saying that in all things he thinks of others:.Romans
15:5; 2Corinthians 5:13;
again,
Philippians 2:2.(original
Greek for word 'accord' is to be 'together with the feelings of others',
'be having empathy').
After all, persons of true spirituality are supposed to be one body:.1Corinthians
12:23,25-27. It is the glory that
Christ gave us to be.one.
We need to be thinking of
how to be a profit to others, instead of the typical mass
mind thinking.-.how
can others profit us?.Titus
3:8; 1Thessalonians 3:12,13.
Also Luke 6:35,36; Ecclesiastes
6:11,12.
Your eternal reward (not
your eternal inheritance which is salvation) is at is at stake here:.1Corinthians
9:24,25; 2Timothy 4:8; 1Peter
5:4; again, Philippians 3:14.
Paul had a great affection
for the people of God:.Philippians
1:7;
2Corinthians 12:19.
Jesus had great feeling for the plight
of people:.Matthew
15:32.....continues
